In every competition there is at least one rule. This regulatory principle, in turn, gives shape and meaning to at least one trap. When children play hide and when elite athletes are faced with the expectant gaze of thousands of spectators, chicanery and deceit are common. This is not only significant when it comes to games. However, within a capitalist system in which one of the key elements is the competition, are also traps a column of our reality?
Greyhound The police operation, in which athletes are involved with notorious cases of alleged doping, has caused uproar in the world of sport and society. Recent successes The English athletes have made many people see in them the reflection of a victorious nation. But this illusion has been clouded with ambition misunderstood. Those young people who waved the national pride of the fans are now villains and outcasts. Is not this hypocrisy?
In the world of high-level sport are constantly developed techniques to improve performance. These may be new sports concepts, tactics, fitness ... Or, alternatively, the management and use of prohibited substances and methods, which is commonly referred to as doping. Intake by athletes of anabolic agents like steroids, can increase strength and power. The use of hormone antagonists and modulators may increase muscle mass. The transfer of oxygen to the blood lead to better performance. In summary, doping can be translated in a marked improvement in the marks and records, which ultimately, can be a success or an audience. This behavior is illegal ... then why should discuss cheating?
The last of the four questions that have been exposed is the easiest to answer. After the many doping cases hides the whole paradigm intrinsic competition: the ambition for victory. This desire may be motivated by winning thousands of reasons: recognition, financial rewards, the desire to excel ... and to get trained athletes to the limit of human capacity. Once reach the edge of their ability are two possible ways: resignation and, therefore, accept its limitations, or other alternative solutions such as doping exta sports.
When doping cases came to light public humiliation occurs. However, when a student who has failed to study enough, faces a test, do not jump back and approves alarms. When a self-contained, in a distressing financial situation, decides to ignore the VAT on an invoice does not set off alarms. When a high-level athlete, who has fought his whole life to get that brand is about to achieve, making substances illicit outrage is the general feeling. Therefore, the answer to the third question is more complex exposed as it is personal. "Hypocrisy? Who knows! Someone dares to follow the parabola and throwing stones at their own roof.
The athlete, as was repeated ad nauseum with each win, is a reflection of society. The spirit of achievement, struggle, specialization ... of winning at any cost. But in this mirror in which everyone wanted to see lifting the cup of success, now, there is a red flag and yellow ribbons woven hypocrisy. Neither visions is a mirage. Both are real. The success and failure. Personal growth and traps. They are two sides of a coin, of capitalism. Therefore, one could say yes to the second question. The traps are a master of our society column.
This reflection causes it to evoke the first question from another point of view. Are the traps of the game? The easy answer is to deny the premise that the traps are not moral and, therefore, are only a perversion of the original game. The reality is much more complex. You can see the difficulty of articulating a response to two major milestones in the sport: the first was an action in which a player used his hand to score a goal (illegal action) on June 22, 1986 in Mexico. The player called Maradona. The tip, the hand of God. The second milestone, at the opposite pole is Ben Johnson. The athlete went from being a winner of a pariah for testing positive after winning the 100 meters final at the Seoul Olympics in 1988.
How then can answer the first question? The answer can be found in sociology. Society has given two answers throughout history: praises and criticisms. Doping cases are an example of the main principles of the system intrinsic current. Are reflections of liars.
